I know its been a while, and yet again I'm going to whore for page views by mentioning Jeremy Lin. Seriously, what an awesome story. Asian kid from Harvard kicking ass in the NBA for the Knicks. Just takes that opportunity. Really happy he is able to reach his dreams and do it on such a large stage.
So I started the Couch to 5k running program to go along with this Atkins diet. It's cool program, but then I got busier beyond belief and havent been able to run this week. So I need to start over again really. Camo makes a fun running buddy though.
I'm really looking forward to getting going again, hopefully tomorrow, it makes me feel great after a run. Tired, but great. So I need to get back into this program.
I think with being committed to a running program it will really make the Atkins diet work. Weight loss has slowed some, last weigh in I was at 312 and some change so I guess thats a total of about 16 pounds so far.
But been having a few beers and with cheating on Valentines Day, probably gonna not help any. But thats ok, we have been really good on the program for the most part, only real cheating things has been having some wine and beer for both of us really.
I also think that we have sorta been retaining water or something, so we bought this fiber stuff. Its basically like a colon cleanser. No telling how much crap is stuffed up inside me! (Hopefully at least 5 pounds)
Speaking of us cheating on Valentines Day. We had a sammich and some sushi. It was not a great idea. I think if we had stuck to the sushi we woulda been ok. But I was beyond miserable, I think it was the bread. It sucked. :(
Back to Valentines Day, Becky got me a french press coffee maker. I had it for the first time when we had our big honeymoon dinner at Citrico's in the Grand Floridian Resort while we were in Disneyworld. I had seen one last weekend and almost bought it, so I guess that gave her the idea to get the french press for me. While we were in Jamaica I had bought some of the coffee I drank half a pot of every morning and its still pretty good, though a bit weak. That's probably my fault...

Furniture
So as I said previously, Roomstore is going out of business in San Antonio. My sister is getting a new apartment and needs all kinda crap. You know the basics. A bed. Kitchen table. Coffee table. Night stand. The basics.
Becky and I took a glance when it was first announced but didn't really find anything we had to have. But someone got the idea to go again this past weekend.
So we goto the first store. My sister found a table she loved. It was too much or at least more than she wanted to spend. They also had a nice 3 piece set of tables. Again, expensive. No wonder this place is going out of business for one. Now mind you, this is the first store we went to that we actually talked to a salesperson. She was nice (very skinny though), but it was essentially the price listed on all of the stuff.
Lo and behold, Becky finds a table she likes a lot. So I had to buy it.
Here it is:
Cost me $126.99 I think they had wanted $139 for it on the tag and so it was originally, I think like 170, just for this thing.
So then we goto a second store. They had all kinda other stuff there. Again my sister finds the table she loved. And the coffee table with end tables. We found the matching coffee table and Becky had found an entryway type table. Our salesman, Ramon, the short order cook, told us it would be best if we just put it all together, he would try to get the best deal possible. It was late, my mom had seen a rug also, we told him, we would be back the next day, which was Sunday.
Sunday comes, and we get in there, and no kidding this tall black guy looking like he was wearing pajama pants wouldn't leave us alone, wanted to get us a deal on the table we were looking at again and while I was trying to get rid of him, Becky is making him an offer. Anyway, we were finally able to toss him aside and hook back up with our short order cook. The coffee table they were wanting $209 for it. It was in their get it out of here section basically..so we said, I'll take it for $100, cause its all scratched up. For the record, it really wasn't bad at all, and can probably be fixed quite easily. We ended up taking it for $150.
This is it:
This is solid wood, heavy as shit stuff. I want to say they originally wanted something like $250 or $260 for it originally. Decent deal.
This though, is what I like most about these pieces, the oddities of myself sometimes:
I don't know why, but I think that's just cool in the corner there.
But no, we didn't stop there. While we were wandering around, Becky was selling me on this idea of putting a chair in the office to do some reading on and what not. They had a number of easy chairs sitting near this table, so we found one we liked. They wanted $399 for it. Ramon, our 'short order cook' of a salesman, said, we'll just make an offer, worst they can do is say no. So I said, I'll take it for $250, not thinking they would actually say, 'ok'. Needless to say, they said yes, I said to myself, "Damn, guess I gotta buy it now", so we now also own this:
My sister ended up getting a set of nesting tables who this location was dumber than dirt on figuring out and then that same table, for $140 less than the other store.
Now the worst part is that it took us an hour to pay, mostly due to my sister's nesting tables that were supposed to be in boxes, but were not, so we ended up getting them for less, mostly due to Becky bitching at them and talking them down. I wanted to go insane after waiting an hour to give them a grand! But now King Ramon, took care of us and hooked us up. Told us to come see him again if we decided we wanted anything else there (we don't).
So then the idea came across to get a second end table that matched the first. So we went off to another store and the saleslady said there were no end tables in dark brown. As she is telling Becky this, I'm waiving at her, saying I found it. We talked it down, got it for $110. Somehow I got hosed at the first store. We were in the store, and out of the store with the table in less than 15 minutes, or in about 1/10 of the time we were in the first store total.
Now along with this whole process, at the hated store, I found this chair that I like. Some will call it not very manly, but I'm also married now and don't care. After going to all of the other stores, Becky went to the south side store (which is also the biggest). The chair was sitting by the front door and in basically perfect condition. They wanted $400 for it. So I guess it was listed originally for about $480. Becky got it for $325. I don't care if you don't like it, here it is:
So versatile, can be used with so many other colors, and those are my sister's nesting tables to the right of it, can't really see them though. Now without me knowing, Becky was talking down lamps she really liked too. I guess her salesman was a nice old guy named Dean, who accused Becky of 'killing him' with her low offers. So she walks in the house with these:
$40 a piece, originally $100 bucks, wanted $60 for each of them in the store. The aren't bad I suppose.
So the next day, Monday, we go to pick up the first chair and we ran across the matching ottoman to that first chair. Dean was there and Becky proceeded to 'kill him' again. They were willing to break up the chair and ottoman and we got it at cost, $98. I wasn't thrilled about that cost, but its ok I suppose. And since I'm putting up photos of everything:
So for a grand total of $1,140 plus tax, I got a nice assortment of furniture that I didn't really need, but I'm glad I have, the coffee table I had was destroyed when Camo was a pup and I'm over the glass tops. So I don't really mind spending the money on them. The chairs I'm buying into Becky's vision. So the onus is on her for it to be good.
See how much fun furniture shopping can be????

The start of the Atkins diet.
Its been way too long since I last jotted down my thoughts. So here goes.
Biggest news is that I've been on the Atkins diet for almost two weeks now. Week one saw me lose 7.5 lbs. That was kinda cool. Takes my fat ass down to 321 lbs. Only 91 to go folks.
Let me tell you what sucks about the Atkins diet. I cant have a beer. I also miss the fruit. Not really missing bread oddly enough. I have no idea what this current week will do, but I'm hoping to clock in somewhere around 315.
Next week I can start working out again, or really start to work out. Since I want to run in a marathon this year (and it wont be the San Antonio Rock N Roll Marathon, because well, I won't be in town that weekend, I'll have to find another one in the area. I saw one in Austin, one in Corpus around the same time. I'll probably do one of those, if for no other reason than to accomplish my goal. I guess I'll make my San Antonio Rock n Roll Marathon debut in 2013. Well if we are still around there, since the world ends this December according to the Mayans
So Roomstore is going out of business in San Antonio. This means Becky wanted to go look at what they have. She said, we need to maybe look for an end table and a new table like thing near the door. We found one for near the door, but it would really make things look too narrow I think. So we didnt buy it. We found an end table like thing and it lead to a lot more. Teaser! I'm going to take photos tomorrow and I'll put them up then. So stay tuned for that.
I went to a class for Zip Forms this past week. Its a real estate thing, if we recall from about a month ago now, I vowed to get more serious about real estate. I've also bought business cards and got signs for my new broker. Well it had only been about 5 months, so thats not too bad right???
I don't know if I had mentioned but I did sign up for my Broker's license, so thats something thats forthcoming.
I've decided to get my real estate website started again, so thats one of my next projects, which might lead me to write that real estate blog. We'll see.
Lastly, is it me or are voters just very easily swayed this year? You have polls making these huge, wide changes on a seemingly daily basis. Has this ever happened? I have never seen it before, or at least don't recall seeing this in the past. Am I crazy? And I also find it funny that my fellow Texans have finally started to turn on Rick Perry. I like that he cost the state 2 million dollars or so with his little Presidential run. I'm still trying to figure out how he was elected again after basically flat out lying about oh so many things. And then whats that with Gov Jan Brewer in Arizona. Have some respect for the office of President. Or isn't that what the Republicans told the Democrats when they hated on Bush constantly? Then again, from what I hear, Jan Brewer is bat shit crazy.
What do yall think about the political race going on?

Ron Paul: Revisited (Part 2)
Yesterday in Ron Paul: Revisited (Part 1) , I began looking at Ron Paul on the issues for the simple fact being that I have recently been intrigued by him and his positions.
Today, I'm going to continue with what I started yesterday.
Education:
Ron Paul wants to eliminate the Department of Education. On the surface its a gotcha moment. A statement that Paul can be roasted upon. But if you dig a little deeper into the reasons being that the school systems are basically a joke. It makes some sense. Paul wants to allow for tax writeoffs for private schools and for those that homeschool.
Let me talk about homeschooling for a second. In my experience, the only people that homeschool their kids are crazy right wing religious zealots. I am not sure of the merits of homeschooled kids other than in most cases they are educated by parents without the real background or training in how to properly educate a child. I know, I know, we all think we know what's best for our kids and its all in a book right? Basic mathematical theory can be taught easily by parents. But once you start to get to a little bit of advanced mathematical theory, its best handled by a professional. The same applies to the sciences and also with grammar. What I would like to see started a lot more is a system of education via cooperatives. Essentially, you are talking a private school of sorts, just with less of the formalized structure of the same. The public education system serves a great purpose. Without it, there would really be a lack of education in this nation. We need to focus on how to truly fix our schools, and how to make maths and sciences especially a greater focus in education. It's one of the main reasons we are falling so far behind in innovation.
Energy:
Paul is in favor of energy independence. I am also. As someone who has a career in the energy industry, I'll say this, the more energy independent we as a nation are, the better this nation will become. There is a lot of talk in the media recently about the fracking going on within the oil and gas industry, and it has its warts. But there is a lot of benefits to the fracking. Its really funny, its classic NIMBYism. People jump at the bonus money and cry about obtaining royalty checks, but when its time to put up the rig to make good on said lease or to obtain said royalties, there are so, so many landowners who balk immediately. When we start talking about pipeline right of ways there are even louder cries. Let me ask this question, how do you expect to get your royalties if you cannot get the oil or gas to market? Is it a pain in the ass when it is being done? Yes. Is it largely temporary? Yes. I'll admit, I do not know nearly enough about fracking as I probably should. Its not the aspect of the industry I work in, so it does not affect me on a daily basis. There are probably more regulations coming, and they overall may not be a bad thing. Government regulators and the oil and gas industry will make it work. It benefits all parties too much to not make it work. But I'm just slightly annoyed by the drill here, drill now people who on the other hand are the OH NO! I dont want a pipeline to run through my neighborhood! Retarded.
Gun Control:
Paul is 100% behind the second amendment stating that there should be no gun control laws in this nation. I am 100% in the other corner on this. While I definitely do not want to see the repeal of the second amendment, I also do not get why we cannot ban certain types of weapons. The second amendment allows for citizens to keep and bear arms. Granted this was done largely due to the role of the militia during the founding of our nation, but that's neither here nor there. Automatic weapons should be banned. There have been way too many to count acts of violence as a direct result of these types of weapons. Its similar to what would happen in war training aka JROTC. Someone messed up, everyone pays the price. It is what it is, we need to guarantee the safety of the many and if it involves banning certain types of weapons so be it. It does not infringe on your second amendment rights, you can still bear arms, just may not be the ones you feel you are entitled to bear. I'm also of the opinion that we should be able to limit the total sum of weapons one should be able to possess but that is a different argument I suppose.
Immigration:
Paul is against immigration. He sees immigration as an economic problem by and large. I get this. But at the same time, we are an immigrant nation. We are all or something like 90% of us (probably higher) were all once immigrants. But I also get the point that Paul is making that all of the programs geared toward immigrants and helping them, i.e. allowing for free medial care, education for their kids, welfare programs Its bankrupting us! And it is, or its part of the problem. See living in a border state, I'm frustrated. I'm going to come off sounding bad with these next few statements, I really dont care. I'm bothered by the prevalence of the Spanish language in Texas. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with speaking your native language. I do not think we should be drafting official documents in multiple languages. If a private business wants to make signs in both English and Spanish, fine. I do not think you should goto your neighborhood DMV and have literature in multiple languages. Same applies to the ballot box. Its extra money we do need to be spending. To an extent the same applies to the school system. See, when my family immigrated to the United States in the mid 19th century, we had to sink or swim. Learn English, or don't eat. We make it way too easy for immigrants now. We cater to them basically. I don't get it. Maybe I'm jealous. Maybe I'm just being a cranky old man. I don't know what it is. I just don't think official paperwork should be in multiple languages. I should inquire as to whether I can obtain welfare documents in German or Italian. I'd probably be less bothered if its available in all languages, but also at the same time more annoyed by the extra cost involved in all of this.
Foreign Policy:
Paul is essentially a follower of George Washington, wary of entangling alliances and believing we need to stay out of other people's messes. While we do not need and should not be the world's policeman, there are times when we need to get involved in global politics. We need to be more mindful of things we do, and its important to have global allies, not only for political purposes but for economic ones as well. There are times when its important to be involved, what we definitely need to do is to not get involved in long term military conflicts without a formal declaration of war by Congress. If we cannot get this from Congress, war cannot be entered into. The system of checks and balances were created for a reason.
So there you have it. I think out of all of the Republican candidates I have read so far, I like Ron Paul a lot. There are some things I am against, some things I really like. But I like and respect that Paul is consistent in his views if nothing else. This is kinda scary though, am I slowly turning more into a conservative? Or maybe it is just reinforcing that I simply only lean to the left and am not hardcore liberal. If I had to vote for a Republican candidate today or tomorrow, I'm definitely choosing Paul.
Ron Paul: Revisited (Part 1)
Earlier this week, I talked about how I wanted to give Ron Paul a closer look, since after hearing him recently, he doesnt sound nearly as crazy as all have always said he is. I respect that he is consistent in his views, agree with them or not, you know what you would be getting. So lets dig a little deeper, if I'm wrong on any of this, please let me know.
Abortion:
Paul is against it and is strongly pro life. I can get behind this. I should clarify my point I made in the Tebow titled post from last Sunday. I respect all those that are pro life. I'm pro life. As a Catholic, its kinda important to be pro life, what I can't get behind are people who vote entirely based upon someone's view on this one issue. As a dynamic society, we are not a one issue society, why should we vote based upon one position and one position only, the rest of a candidate's polices be damned! Have I voted for a pro life politician? Yes. Do I wish they would be pro life? Yes. Was the candidate I voted for the best overall? Yes, at least in my opinion. Sometimes you can't get everything you want, so you have to do what is for the best of society as a whole in your decisions, at least that is my official position.
Afghanistan:
Paul wants to get out immediately. I agree, to a point. We need to get out, but at this point you cannot simply pull out all at once. You have to get out as soon as you can and in as organized a manner as possible. While, I agreed with going after Bin Laden after 9/11, that time has come and gone. Obama has done a good job in taking down the terrorists. Its time to get out completely, Iraq should have never happened, but thats another story completely.
Budget:
Essentially Paul believes we should have a balanced budget on a yearly basis. This is a great idea, something I can definitely get behind. I wish I could run my personal budget in the red on a year in and year out basis with no negative consequences basically. Clinton balanced the budget and ran this nation with a surplus toward the end of his time in office. Bush had zero disregard for the budget, used 9/11 largely to fund two wars which were never paid for. If you are going to enter into military conflict, you have to pay for it somehow. You have to raise taxes. You have to present it to the people that we are going to have to temporarily raise taxes in order to take down the terrorists. This was never done, instead we cut taxes. How is this actually logical? This is really what pisses me off the most. Sure I love paying less taxes. I will really hate when this nation falls into full economic collapse as a result of all of this. This is Bush's fault along with Congress' fault for letting him have a blank check with no real accountability for the funds. War sucks (which was never really a real war since Congress never declared it so), but when you goto war, you have to make sacrifices in other areas. This was never really done and its led to this stupid debt that is so far out of control that I don't know if it can ever be corrected. And this is so very sad.
Business and Labor:
Paul believes that inflation is caused by a demand by business for easy money, we should not let shareholders vote on executive compensation and we should replace illegal tax breaks on exports with 140 billion in other tax breaks. I do not know enough about monetary policy to comment on it, I'd have to do a lot more research on this for sure. I also am not sure what other tax breaks Paul talks about, so I'll withhold comment for now. I do not agree with Paul's position that shareholders should not vote on executive compensation. Shareholders are the owners and should be allowed to do whatever the please as long as its within the laws said company is regulated by. Having said that, I also think that if a company messes up and gets into financial trouble that they should just be forced to pay the consequences. The bank bailouts for example, are one of the biggest rackets we have seen in modern business history. How the executives at these big banks were allowed to keep their jobs for one is beyond me. How these executives are allowed to have such huge bonuses just a couple of years after the fact is also beyond me. We should have let the banks fail, the FDIC insurance kicks in and covers the deposits, the big banks go under and we move on other institutions. People lose some money, but thats the risk you take.
Paul would overhaul bankruptcy laws to allow for at least partial payment, this I do agree with. One thing I learned in business school is that bankruptcy isnt so bad by and large. Many business people have declared bankruptcy many times and ended up succeeding in business eventually. While I wouldn't want this to change, as this allows for one to fail at something and try again at something else, aka the American dream, but my understanding is that bankruptcy laws as they are right now are in many ways simply a way to avoid debt in a number of cases. This should not be the case. Ever. Further, if you end up succeeding at some point, you should be forced to pay back your back debt at least to some level. You take a risk and fail, you pay the price. Simple as that.
Paul believes the minimum wage limits opportunities. I like having the minimum wage as its stands, I would be more in favor of a living wage, but that's another story. It's good for our society, as there are far too many people who would then be forced to be even more dependent on government for things then they are now. At least in our current environments.
Finally Paul believes that unemployment benefits should be capped at 39 weeks. This I agree with to an extent. In normal times, this should be the case. Due to the many problems in our federal government and the policies they have already enacted, this is difficult to do. Once we fix the root caues of many things, then let's get back to this. Until then, difficult to do.
Capital Punishment:
Paul is now against the death penalty. I am also against it but for different and also similar reasons as Mr. Paul. Paul is against it simply due to the fact that it allows for a potential innocent person to be put to death. This I agree with as well. However, I also think that the same concept that we use for the 'culture of life' argument in abortion can be applied here as well. Yes the people sentenced to death have done a lot of wrong in their lives. But who are we to judge? When did we as humans on this earth become the judge of who lives and who dies. It is my belief that as a Catholic, if you are against abortion, then you had better be against the death penalty as well. I have never understood the glossing over of a candidate's position on this subject and looked so heavily as abortion only. (I should note that I don't know any other candidate's position on this as of right now, so I cannot say one way or another how anyone else positions themselves) Hey, I disagree with the Catholic church on some things, but if you want to be a holy roller and talk about how you believe in Jesus Christ et al, then you had better not say on one hand that you are against abortion and on the other hand say you are for the death penalty!
Civil Liberties:
Paul believes the government should stay out of gay and lesbian issues. Agree. See this is my position on marriage. If you are to allow a man and a woman to marry and receive tax benefits, health benefits, death benefits et al, then you have to do it for two men or two women who want to do the same thing. Simply change the wording allowing for two able minded adult citizens can enter into a marriage agreement and receive the same benefits. But Adam, this is wrong, the Church says that only a man can marry a woman. I agree! I am not saying the Catholic Church needs to accept this tenant. If the Catholic Church says only a man and a woman can marry, then that's the only people who can marry in the eyes of the Church. If you want to do something outside of the Church and live in a life of sin, go for it. We are all sinners after all! It's up to you and God when you reach your judgement when you die. I can only work on my soul and the souls of my family members firstly, secondly I'll work on trying to spread the Good News to others.
Paul believes the Patriot Act should not be made permanent. I cannot agree with this more. I never got the Patriot Act outside of an initial period after 9/11. It was a knee jerk reaction. Airport security never failed on 9/11. Let's get this straight once and for all. The failure in not having a strict enough policy on what is and what is not allowed on a plane. Box cutters were legal items. The terrorists brought on board legal items. Security itself at the airport never failed. So lets just go to the other extreme now. Wonderful. And wire tap into anyone one desires without cause other then a 'hunch' and all the other crap that is the Patriot Act. Culture of fear is what is comes from. Culture of fear.
Paul believes eminent domain should be illegal. This is something I cannot get behind. However, if you are to invoke this, then you have to show cause for it for some specific public good. i.e. roadway. Then you should be forced to pay a certain % to obtain said land. Government should not be able to claim eminent domain, make something 'fair market value' based on who knows what and then force an owner off a piece of land. It needs to be more strict with certain things put in place to protect the private property owner.
I have written a lot. I have taken some of Paul's positions and interjected my own analysis and thoughts into them. Let me clarify. I am a Catholic and no I do not like little boys. Hooray stereotypes! So some of my views are based upon my religious beliefs, don't hate me for it, dont try to sway me on those views. It is what it is!
I will continue on with this probably later today and dig even deeper into Ron Paul and some of his positions.

Lost Drives!
Let me tell you what is a horrible thing to have happen. Having your external hard drive get a fatal error.
Boy that's not fun!
I wake up Monday morning, go to plug in my external hard drive (mind you all of my work related stuff and also honeymoon photos are on this drive) and I'm told that I need to format my hard drive. I proceeded to have a heart attack and stroke at the same time.
So I started to figure out solutions. Everyone one I tried ended in failure. I was able to recover 90% of the honeymoon photos. The only ones I dont have are the first ones from Jamaica. Those were mostly underwhelming though. Still beyond annoying, but the file recovery worked on the photos from the camera memory card.
The drive, though needs to be formatted. I have another solution, but I"m too depressed to try to work on it now.
All of my work stuff save for stuff in the last two months I have backed up. So thats good, I was able to recover it all. The stuff I dont have saved from the last two months, save for the last week is at least scanned. So I just need to recreate some of the .pdf documents back into their word counterparts. Good thing I'm not overly busy with work related stuff, so I have time to fix everything and put everything back in their proper order.
So the moral of the story. Have a backup for your stuff at all times. Even if you dont think its going to die, its going to die. So I'm looking into the cloud now. I really need to know more about this stuff anyway. I am a former IT guy afterall! So what's there to know about 'the cloud'? I'm learning how to use iCloud, so I assume they are all the same. Who should I use to get cloud space from?
In other news, its going to be cold tonight and I have to get up and goto Laredo tomorrow. This does not sound like fun at all!

January 8, 2012: Tebow time?
Its been over a week since I vowed to update this thing on a regular basis. Let me tell you something. Mountain Cedar sucks a big one. If you have ever been plagued by it, you know what I'm talking about, or really if you are plagued by any allergy.
Now that I'm starting to be able to breathe again I am starting to get myself organized and caught up on a few things here.
I've applied for my real estate broker's license. I guess since TREC decided to make things a lot more of a pain to obtain a broker's license, it pushed me to get it done. Now I have a year to take care of all of the requirements. Good luck Adam!
Becky has been sick all week with pretty much the same thing as me. However, my immune system is a powerpacked one, so I have at least been able to function in life. Becky, stuck in bed all week being sick and miserable. I tried to be a good husband and take care of her. I did an allright job. I think.
Steelers Touchdown! Take that Tebow! (See I needed to put something in my title to help get me hits. Tebow is God's chosen son right? ) I'm actually amazed that someone who throws so bad has gotten so much publicity and is actually starting in the NFL. Maybe Denver will fully implement the option game next year instead of the half assed approach they took this year.
Went to my first Spurs game this season, it was fun. Danny Green looks good. Spurs just gave up a dunk in their current game. That was bad. Boner got a jumper. Enough running commentary on the game. I enjoy going to Spurs games, you are able to really see what players do and I always enjoy focusing in on Pop. Pop had a fun animated game on Wednesday. Hadn't seen him like that in quite a while, so that was very nice to see.
As I watched the Iowa election returns the other night, I was amazed that a Rick Santorum who is by and large a nut was able to make as many inroads in as short a time as he did. It tells me a couple of things. Iowans are crazy. The Republican field is very shitty. I should disclose. I am Catholic. Rick Santorum is Catholic. I WILL not be voting for Rick Santorum. I try to respect all people and this is going to slide off into some type of tangent, but I dont get my fellow Catholics that are one issue voters with that issue being abortion. Yes, I'm personally against abortion. However, there is no state religion in the United States of America. So from a legal standpoint, it makes sense, especially if there has never been a formal declaration of when life begins that both Christian and non Christian can agree upon. If we can come up with some type of definition (perhaps being when a baby can sustain life outside the womb), then we can definitively say when an abortion is legal and when it is not. Again, from a personal standpoint, abortion is morally and ethically wrong at any point. I waver on those that harm the life of the mother, but in all normal circumstances, 100% against it. But from a state standpoint, the Constitution was created and the founding fathers did so with no state religion. Sure this nation was found with a Christian basis to it, but there needs to be a separation of Church and State. Rick Santorum's idol, Ronald Reagan stressed this, but since Republicans by and large want to invoke Reagan all the while completely ignoring what his policies were, is both comical and ironic. By the way Joe Biden is Catholic. Why not the complete fawning over him because he is in the second most powerful office in this nation. Oh yes, because he sees the separation of church and state as a good thing. Back to Iowa, 8 votes determining who won is just unreal. Wow.
This afternoon, I was looking a little closer at Ron Paul. I'm intrigued by him. I need to really look at him closer. I've come to realize there is not one candidate I will agree with fully. I like a lot of what I was reading today about him. I'm not in favor of eliminating the FED, nor some of the Cabinet posts he proposes to eliminate, but a lot of the other stuff makes a hell of a lot of sense. I'll be reporting back on this soon.
I need to find additional oil and gas clients. If you are an oil and gas company and need someone to do some quality title work in South Texas, look me up. I"ll do title around virtually anyone else you can find. And I'll guarantee you that.
I also need to find some houses to sell. If you are looking to sell one of those, look me up also, we'll work out a really sweet deal. And if you are looking to buy a house, I'll help you find one, I'll make you a sweet deal too. Seriously, I will. Try me. Retail service at wholesale prices!
