2012

As I sit here late Saturday night, last day of 2011, I look back on the past year.  The best part is that now that I'm married, I dont have to worry about going out on the town looking for a good time on New Year's.  I know who I'm kissing at midnight.  And this year, I'm not staring death in the face, so things are already looking up!

I got married.  Wow.  Who woulda seen that coming?

I went to Jamaica for my honeymoon, boy was that fun.  The Disneyworld part was fun also.  If you are into wine and experiencing food from around the world, the Epcot Food and Wine festival needs to be on your bucket list.

I saw the set of Hey Dude.

I went to St. Louis a few times, I got there a few times in college don't go for about 10 years, now I go on a semi regular basis.

This blog is something I had started a while back.  Only problem, I never used it.  I'm at a point where its time to dust it off and get going.

The first of the year is as good a time as any to get this rolling.  So I've deleted all the old stuff (there wasn't much), I'm going to redesign this, and I'm going to use it on a regular basis.

I'm determined to make 2012 a year of diversification.

I'm also going to launch a real estate blog and possibly an oil and gas blog in the near future.  I'll find a way to link the two together.

I want to this be a place where I can jot my thoughts down mostly as a way to keep myself accountable for obtaining my goals.  Far too often, I set goals and then never follow through on them.  Its a joke in American society, you set a goal on January 1 and by January 31 its forgotten.

Am I going to come through on all my goals?  No. Let's be honest, I'm going to fail.  Hopefully the failures in 2012 come as a result of just sucking and not from sloth.  That in and of itself would be a great accomplishment.  If you read this great, if you don't, I really don't care.

If there is something witty, respond.  If I make a fool of myself, tell me so.  I'd love to engage in fun intellectual conversation.

Now onto the goals:

- Get more involved in the business of oil and gas.  If I'm going to make this a career, I need to really do more than just collect a paycheck.  I've started doing it and I take things seriously, but I really need to buckle down and really get into it.

-Get more involved in real estate.  Let's be honest, I really like real estate.  I love title issues more, but I'm one of the strange breed of folks that actually like doing that stuff.  Most just do it because the money is great.  I want to get more into real estate.

-Participate in the Rock n Roll Marathon 2012 in San Antonio.  Half marathon, let's not get ahead of ourselves here!  Now this goal may not happen, because right now I'm not sure of the date, and I have a prior engagement in early November, but as long as this doesn't interfere, I'll be there.  And I'm going to wear short shorts. And do well.

-Get more in tune with my spiritual life.  Recently, I've hit a dry spell and I need to correct it, I think all the running around from September on, put me into bad habits.  Need to turn that around.

If you read this and care to throw a goal at me, knock yourself out, I just might do it!

Now, back to my glass of Rancher's Reserve from Rancho Pointe Vineyard in Fredericksburg, Texas.  This is great stuff.

Have safe travels tonight and a Happy, Joyous and Blessed 2012!
